about Montana Sapphire

Sapphire in Montana was first discovered by gold prospectors in 1865. Montana sapphires boast a captivating spectrum of colors, spanning the spectrum of the rainbow with the most common color being an intense blue green. Montana Sapphires typically occur with a pale pastel colors and undergo heat treatment to bring out their vibrant colors.

The majority of cut Montana Sapphires are less than one carat. Montana Sapphires over one carat fetch a premium as do unheated Montana Sapphires due to their rarity.

All of our Montana Sapphire was ethically mined in Rock Creek, Montana just outside of Philipsburg, MT.
